Centrifugal casting of turbine bearing
Why Choose Centrifugal Casting for Babbitt Bearings?
By spinning a bearing at the proper RPM, the molten babbitt can be poured under pressure. This centrifugal force combined with rapid cooling will provide the best bond, and bearing integrity. This process ensures that the poured babbitt is free of impurities, gasses, or imperfections. Thus providing the best bond strength, and extending the life of your bearing! BBR will provide ultrasonic bond certification, and dye penentrant testing. BBR also maintains an inventory of certified babbitt, allowing us to match any OEM specification of babbitt that your bearing would require.
BBR also employs two different sized centrifugal spin casting machines. Our largest spinner can cast a bearing with an outside diameter of 72" and up to 7000 lbs. Our smaller spinner can cast a bearing with an outside diameter of 36" and up to 1500lbs. The size, mass and configuration of your bearing, will determine the machine we use.
